# Cursor

Cursor's agent reads skills from `~/.agents/skills` or `~/.cursor/skills` (every project) and from `.agents/skills` or `.cursor/skills` in your project. The install below writes `~/.agents/skills/vidlab`. Start Cursor from a terminal where `VIDLAB_API_KEY` is set, so the agent's commands can read it.

## Set up

1. Put your key in your environment ([how](/vidlab-api/docs/agent-skill#1-set-your-key)) and open a new terminal.
2. Install the skill for every project:

```bash
npx skills add https://vidlab.ai -g -a cursor -y
```

Leave out `-g` to install it for the current project only (it is saved in `.agents/skills/vidlab`).

3. Start Cursor from that terminal (`cursor .`), open the agent and check it with a free question:

```text
Use the VidLab skill: list three video models and the price of a 5 second clip at 720p.
```

## Tips

- Cursor started from the Dock or the Start menu does not see a variable set in your shell profile. Start it from a terminal, or set the variable for your whole user account (on Windows the PowerShell line on [Install the VidLab skill](/vidlab-api/docs/agent-skill#1-set-your-key) does that).
- Update the skill by running the install command again.
